Quick Stop in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio
OK, Hocking Hills has always been on my list of places to visit. I was driving back from Cleveland and decided to take a quick detour through the Hocking Hills area south of Columbus, Ohio. I’ve seen some good photos from that area so I thought a make quick reconnaissance of the area for a future photo trip. I only had a few hours to chekc out the area as I had to be home that evening.
The park is spread out in several locations with different many different geological sites inlcuding waterfalls, various canyons, and interesting caves.
The hight of my short visit was The Rock House — a natural cave located in a deep canyon cut through soft sandstone. Various minerals embedded in the sandstone make for beautiful natural abstracts. I cant’ wait till I get a chance to spend some serious time photographing this area — maybe a Spring walkabout next year…
The cave extends parallel to the face of a canyon wall offering several break out windows.

Minerals in the rock cause beautiful abstracts.
